BALDWIN PARK, CA — In a landmark county-wide collaboration, the County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care & Control will partner with “Dancing with the Stars” Carrie Ann Inaba & her Animal Project Foundation, The Lucy Pet Foundation, along with Baldwin Park Mayor, Manuel Lozano to announce and kick-off the first “PURRfect FIX SPAY & NEUTER voucher program available free of charge to L.A. county resident cat owners.
Marcia Mayeda, the Director of Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) said, “Last year, the Department cared for 30,000 cats. It is our goal to reduce the numbers of unwanted cats by making spay/neuter surgeries more available. We are grateful that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors provided $103,000 for us to make these services more affordable for our residents, and look forward to working with cat owners to assist them in obtaining these valuable services. She added, “We are grateful to our generous partners, including Carrie Ann Inaba and her Animal Project Foundation, along with The Lucy Pet Foundation Mobile Spay & Neuter Clinics, Bark Avenue Foundation, and Mission Animal Hospital. “Dancing With The Stars” celebrity judge and animal supporter, Carrie Ann Inaba, has stepped up to support the effort and has arranged for her Animal Project Foundation to cover the additional cost of the $60.00 surgeries for the first 100 customers on Oct. 16th. Carrie Ann Inaba commented, “One of the most important aspects of what we do with The Animal Project Foundation begins with how we control the pet population to begin with. Ensuring that animals are spayed and neutered and that the service is available to more people is essential and I am so happy to be a part of the solution to our overpopulation problem.”
The Lucy Pet Foundation’s mobile spay & neuter van will be on the site that day starting at 7:00am, performing feline spay & neuter services for over 100 cats. L.A. County is currently launching a program with the Lucy Pet Foundation to perform spay and neuter services to cats.
This groundbreaking program to be announced at the 10:00am press conference at Morgan Park in Baldwin Park on October 16, will operate simultaneous mobile spay/neuter and vaccine clinics in Lancaster, East Los Angeles, and Lake Los Angeles as well.
